Late Baby Leeya’s parents, Akerele, 34, and Kelly Inman, 22, both resident of Whittlesey, Cambridge, United Kingdom are reported to have severely assaulted the infant. Medical records obtained by the prosecutor Yvonne Coen QC, showed she had suffered brain damage, a fractured skull, broken hands and ribs, while her face and hands had bites marks from an adult. Paramedics had rescued Leeya from her abusive parents after an emergency call was made. She was transported to a city hospital where she was put on a life support machine. Leeya died 12 days later after the machine was turned off as doctors determined she didn’t stand any chance of recovery. The court before handing the conviction heard that for almost four weeks preceding her death, Leeya was not taken to see her doctor for the usual care given to babies. Both parents will be sentenced at a yet to be announced date.
