JOS, Sept 05, (THEWILL) - A 23-year-old Fulani herdsman, Usman Idris, who was missing for more than three weeks has been found dead at Gero village near Jos.

The body of the late Usman was discovered burnt and dumped between thickets of shrubs in a bush after his family had declared him missing for over three weeks. He was said to have been last seen walking alone along Gero village raod.

Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhammad Lerama confirmed the death to THEWILL but said the police has started investigation into the matter.

Brother to the deceased, Ibrahim Idris who spoke with journalists on the incident said Usman was last seen on August 10 on his way to Gero village. He said since then he has neither been seen nor did he return to where he had left his cattle.

"We have been looking for him, we even reported the case to Bukuru Police station to no avail," Idris said.

He said last week, someone came to inform them that a burnt body was lying in the bush somewhere around where Usman was last seen trekking, prompting the family to mobilize some security men who escorted them to the spot were they were able to recover his body.

Ibrahim said his brother must have been killed in the unabated hostilities between the Fulani and the indigenes of the area. He appealed to the state Governor to resolve the state’s ethnic and religious crises.
