Ugandan Bomb Blast Targets World Cup Viewers

UPDATED: AL SHABAAB, AN ISLAMIC MILITANT GROUP CLAIMS RESPONSIBILITY FOR ATTACK. * 74 PERSONS DEAD. San Francisco, July 11, (THEWILL) – A bomb blast exploded in two separate bars in Kampala, Uganda’s capital, packed with football fans watching the World Cup final match between Spain and Holland. News agency, Reuters reports that at least 23 persons were killed in the blast including one American while CNN reports that a few Americans were also injured. Uganda Police Department however said about 60 persons were killed while about 71 persons were wounded. No terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack. One bombing targeted an Ethiopian Village restaurant in the Kabalagala district, a popular night-life spot which was packed with soccer fans and is popular with foreign visitors. The second attack struck a rugby club showing the match. US President Barack Obama has condemned the attack.
